Hi all! I'm originally from Los Angeles, California. I was born and raised in Koreatown, for the most part, until I moved to Tianjin, China for four years during high school. I went back to LA to attend college, and am now living in New York City. First thing's first--I know everyone has already had some exposure to this city, but I want to personally introduce you my LA, where it all began. Here are five reasons why I love Los Angeles:
Beaches Los Angeles has a unique combination of a laid-back beach culture and a full metropolitan city vibe that is unparalleled.I love bad beaches, and I guess that's a problem. I love that the beach is a place to swim, play volleyball/other sports, nap, read, barbecue, people watch, chase seagulls that steal your food, and just relax. Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica Beach are two of my favorites.
Palm Trees This is a strange reason to like LA, but I always feel at home when I see those oddly shaped trees. They're one of the first things I notice when I arrive at LAX, and they make me feel peaceful.
Food I wouldn't necessarily call myself a foodie, but I love to eat nonetheless. Los Angeles has a ton of great food from all different cultures, and most of it's affordable as well. I definitely miss all the Korean food, especially barbecue.
Weather This is an obvious one, but summer's my favorite season and I miss having an eternal one. Everything's just damn happier.
Neighborhoods I love how diverse the different districts of LA can be. It's interesting to think about the history of how these neighborhoods developed with their own distinct flavors, ethnicities, and vibes. Personally, my parents always drove me around when I was younger, and it's always fun for me to rediscover those places on my own.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson put it, "Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air."
