Holi Festival, originally a Hindu spring tradition, celebrates color, love, and happiness. There could be no better celebration of spring and warm weather after the polar vortex that overtook the east coast this past winter. It's about time, New York!
We spent hours throwing colorful dry powder at each other, making friends with happy random people, and dancing to live music. Yes, I scrubbed my clothes, sandals, bag, and DSLR camera furiously when I got home. Yes, people stared at us on our subway ride home. Yes, I threw out my three-year-old white shirt, and yes, it was worth it.
I'm now counting down the days and the weekends until fall/cold weather approaches. It seems like a short time bomb but I'm determined to soak up as much sun and happiness as possible. I'm so excited for summer in New York--the rooftop bars, ghetto Coney Island trips, fancy Hamptons day trips, outdoor movie screenings, and the blazing humid New York heat (only welcome to finally thaw my frozen insides from winter).
What do you have planned for the summer?
