I didn't expect to, but I loved Austin. I guess it's because I automatically love any city with a natural water culture, so I was really impressed at all the kayakers, paddle boarders, and swimmers on Barton Creek and the Colorado River.
Besides the turtle watching, 6th street nights, the flight of a million bats, and quite possibly the best sushi of my life, I liked Austin mainly because of it's non-assuming vibe. It's hipsterville of Central America, but the people are still friendly and chill. It was a good change from New York, where most people are high-strung and stressed.
