I spent a lot of time in January in Lyon. Lyon is a charming and friendly city in the south of France that has two beautiful rivers running through its center. It felt refreshing to explore a French city that wasn't the typical Paris and was full of its own subtle nuances.
Vieux Lyon is the oldest neighborhood, full of beautiful historic buildings and small, winding streets. The buildings and streets twist up the hill to a gorgeous church, Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, where you can overlook the entire city. I loved wandering around aimlessly and discovering small things like the perfect cobblestone street lined with the perfect combination of pastel houses or big things like the Grand Roman Theatre.
Though Lyon was cloudy for most of the days I was there, Mattia and I were lucky to rush out and seize the few days of sunshine. I'm definitely ready for a nice, hot summer vacation.
