After exploring Athens, Mattia and I flew to Santorini, Greece. Santorini had been a dream destination for me for as long as I could remember. The dream had gotten bigger and greater in the recent years as I'd seen the destination explode in popularity. I was a bit worried--how could the island live up to my lofty expectations?
It would be an understatement to say that Santorini blew my expectations away. It might've also been because I was able to travel with Mattia. We have been in a long distance relationship for a while now (I live in New York City and he lives in Europe), so I always treasure the time we get to spend together.
Each day, we woke up with Greek yogurt and a freddo cappuccino. We then hopped into our rental car and spent days exploring beaches, getting lost in the maze of gorgeous towns, chomping on Greek salads with a side of chilled white wine, and riding donkeys to the view of the sparkling sea. We ended our days with breathtaking sunsets at Oia and Fira. I felt so lucky to see and experience everything that I had only ever dreamed about firsthand.
