Sorry that I've been a bit MIA these past few weeks! Work got more busy than usual, and I picked a few more side projects besides the blog. I didn't get to travel much in April since my cousin from Korea visited me in New York for 2 weeks. It was her first time in the US, so I did my best to take her around everywhere. I spent time running around the five boroughs as a tourist again, learning to continue appreciate all the New York awesomeness. I really enjoy taking people around some of my favorite places because it brings back the joy of when I first discovered it. And I always sneak in stuff that's been on my bucket list of course.
EGG RINGS I love making egg sandwiches at home and I love how these rings have made it so easy to make perfect circular eggs. (My favorite are overeasy eggs with yolk waiting to burst!) Before I got these, the egg whites would spill over in the frying pan and create messy shapes. Now I get perfectly shaped eggs every time.
AIRBORNE GUMMIES The changing weather this past month kept me on the verge of getting sick. I always keep a pack of chewable Airborne in my bag when I travel, because nothing is worse than being sick on a trip. I only just recently discovered the gummies--they're so amazingly delicious! I found myself chowing down around 10 a day (you can see how the container in the photo above is empty). And whether a placebo effect or not, Airborne has always worked for me to avoid sickness. I always eat a ton of them anytime I feel a cold coming on, which I can tell whenever my throat feels a bit sore or if I get slight headaches. I'll take the chance that it's just a magical placebo effect over getting sick any day, haha!
EQUINOX 30/60/90 CORE CLASS I'm still trying to keep in shape for the summer and this has been my favorite core class to date. It totally kicked my ass, I've never been so sore in my core. If the Equinox near you has this class, try it out! It's 30 minutes of intensive situps, leg raises, and planks. Treat yourself to a long, eucalyptus-scented steam after, of course.
FREAKONOMICS PODCAST I've been a big fan of this podcast for a while and recently started listening a lot again. It generally focuses on what the actual data is behind something that you might think is a given fact. For instance, one of the more recent interesting episodes digs into whether or not handwriting is still useful in this modern age. Some of my other favorite episodes include: How Much Does Your Name Matter, The No Tipping Point, and Women Are Not Men. It's also nice that Freakonomics usually tries to give both sides of the issue.
GOOGLE PHOTOS I heard of Google Photos a while ago, but it took me a while actually start using it. I spend a lot of time backing up my photos from my iPhone to my external hard drive, and this is just another extra backup just in case. This app automatically syncs up with your phone's photo library and uploads it in the cloud drive. Unlimited storage is free if you choose to upload compressed photos (it doesn't affect the quality that much in my opinion, unless you're going to be using the photos for large posters or artwork). I really dislike getting the "upgrade your iCloud storage" every few weeks and this takes out the worry that my photos will be lost. The search function is also a great innovation. It's crazy how you can search the word "tree" and it will bring up all your photos of trees.
