I can't believe that it's already November. Where did 2016 go?! October was pretty awesome. I did basic fall stuff like apple picking, foliage hiking, pie baking, and general frolicking in crunchy leaves. I also got to escape some of the fall stuff for quick weekend in Miami where I spent days drinking champagne and eating stone crab with Mattia's dad. Halloween was also pretty awesome. Here are a couple of things that I've been loving in October!
CUREL WET SKIN MOISTURIZER My friend Sher recommended this lotion to me several weeks ago and I didn't really think much of it until fall hit hard this month. I am the laziest person when it comes to putting on lotion after showering. I especially hate waiting to get fully dry before you can even apply moisturizer, and then waiting for the moisture to absorb before you can put on clothes. This new type of moisturizer has solved all my dry skin woes. Basically, right before you hop out of the shower and dry yourself, you apply this wet skin lotion all over. Then you towel dry as usual, no wait time required. The result is a very easy, no-fuss way to keep your skin soft and happy. I also realized I never forget to put on moisturizer now that it's incorporated directly into my shower routine. (I also add on almond skin oil for days that I need extra moisturizing, which I mentioned in January 2016 Favorites.)
JCREW CHAMBRAY SHIRT One of my favorite buys of this year. I finally replaced my old chambray shirt when I spotted this at their factory site. It's versatile enough to wear on weekends to brunch and on weekdays to work paired with a pencil skirt. If you don't have a chambray shirt yet (or if you don't have a light-colored one), this is a good staple piece for your wardrobe!
LIFE COMFORT FLEECE BLANKET This is the softest thing EVER. The instant I felt it at Costco, I knew that I had to get it. Now I just spend lazy weekend mornings (let's be real, the whole day) curled up on the bed or sofa in this blanket. The quality for the price is amazing. And as you can see, Wrigley wasted no time rolling around in it.
BABBEL I finally finished Duolingo Italian (one of my goals for 2016!) and I have now moved onto Babbel. I think while Duolingo was a great introduction to the language with basic grammar and vocabulary, Babbel is great with more real-life applications. It goes over realistic conversations and phrases that I can definitely use (especially if Mattia would agree to practice with me, haha). And while Duolingo is the same lady repeating phrases, Babbel offers different voices at varying speeds, which has definitely upped my listening comprehension game. I also love that it has both a mobile app and a web app. I paid $44.70 for 12 months, which is totally worth it. I'm headed to Italy again in December so I'll test out my Italian then!
REPLY ALL PODCAST I've been listening to this podcast every time I travel. It's a collection of funny, weird, crazy stories about the internet. I love listening to the two hosts, PJ and Alex, bicker. Each episode is pretty light & goes by fast, so give it a try! Some of my favorite episodes are #69 "Disappeared", which has an interesting story on the second half about the origins of a secret code, #44 "Shine on you Crazy Goldman", where one of the hosts documents his first experiment with LSD, and #56 "Zardulu", which is a story about a crazy viral hoaxer.
