Puerto Rico was one of my favorite trips this year. After spending several months trying to convince my friends to finally pull the trigger and after several failed "conference calls" of trying to book flights & hotel, we finally did it!
We stayed in Old San Juan and I immediately fell in love with the pastel buildings. I spent the early hours of the AM roaming around the streets myself and admiring the architecture and quiet streets. In contrast, at night the streets were busy with happily inebriated people. It was the perfect neighborhood to stay as it was walking distance to many attractions and awesome nightlife.
We ventured out on a boat trip (yes, booze included) to Culebra Island on our second day. It was absolutely amazing. The snorkeling was phenomenal and Flamenco Beach was stunning, I definitely did not want to leave the waters! That night, we returned to the hotel completely exhausted, but I forced myself out for salsa dancing in Old San Juan. I'm glad I didn't decide to sleep, it was so fun to party in the historic city. The third day, armed with tons of Off Spray (no ZIka, please) we ventured out to the caves in the morning and the northern shores in the afternoon to enjoy a beautiful sunset.
I want to return soon to explore more of the rainforest, water activities (like kayaking at night!), and of course, more snorkeling.
